Sometimes deciding location is the hardest part of planning a wedding. What suits our personalities? Which venue means something to us? Does it really have to have sentimental value or can it just be pretty? Is the date I want even available? How MUCH is it? Those are all questions you have to ask yourself in order to be happy with the location you inevitably have to choose.
For Christopher and I it was an easy decision to be married in Vancouver. It is our favorite city and where he proposed. We’d like to retire (we hope by 30!) there and the scenery is undoubtedly beautiful!
Our perfect spot would be Christopher’s parents’ home in West Vancouver. The view is sensational and the backyard is perfectly set up for the number of guests we would like to attend. (PLUS – no charge of venue!) Also, we can use the catering company WE like rather than a standard one at a ballroom.
Here’s the catch: THEIR HOUSE IS ON THE MARKET TO BE SOLD! Which means, it might sell before our ideal date. This is where stress rears its ugly head and I start obsessively Googling every wedding venue I can find in Vancouver. Only, I can’t view them in person because I’m in Toronto. What’s a bride to do?
Christopher and I spoke yesterday and as a back up plan to his parents house selling we might end up having the wedding in Toronto. The buildings are so beautiful here and since a lot of our friends live in NYC, it will be easier for traveling purposes.
Here are some of our top picks for Vancouver AND Toronto:
